About our cause
St Albans City Youth Football Club (SACY) was founded in 1971 and 50 fantastic years later the Club is proudly celebrating its Golden Anniversary season. City Youth can now boast to be one of the largest grass roots sports clubs in the UK with over 1,200 players across 90 teams and with an age range of 7-18 years for boys and girls and open age for our broad range of Inclusive teams.
‘City Youth’ became a registered charity in 2001 and in the same year the club was awarded Charter Standard Club status by the FA. The Management Committee, the Team Managers and their Assistants give their time on a voluntary basis as do our Board of Trustees.
The Club continues to grow year on year and to play an increasing role in the community of St Albans and the surrounding areas. The Blue and Gold of City Youth is one of the most highly recognisable sporting brands in Hertfordshire promoting inclusiveness, fair play, sporting opportunity and outstanding governance.
City Youth has been delivering community projects across St Albans for over 20 years. Through the ‘Saints in the City’ partnership with St Albans City FC, our team of community coaches deliver a comprehensive programme of 9 community projects, that reach nearly 700 people per week aged 5 to 75. These projects range from Saturday Soccer School and our Girls’ Wildcats sessions to Inclusive football encompassing a record 85 members with a range of disabilities to Walking Football for men and women aged 50+. We also deliver projects in educational settings across the district that include lunchtime and after school clubs in primary and secondary schools. We are immensely proud of the work we do at Oaklands College helping integrate students who do not have English as a first language and our intervention project at the Links Academy, a local pupil referral unit.
In addition to this we run school Holiday Camps, trainming programmes, Junior Leader’s courses and summer Tournaments and CPD sessions for local teachers.
Sessions are delivered throughout the week by over 20 graduates of our own in-house Community Coaches’ training programme which provides young and women from the club with training, workplaces, mentoring schemes and employment opportunities.
We need your help and support to continue to deliver the services we provide to all the communities that make up our wonderful city.
Thank you,
